Nobody notices the binder. Until they do.
Occupational safety is rarely inspected — and usually at the worst possible moment: after an accident, during a visit from the labour inspectorate, or when a general contractor asks to see your records. From then on, only what exists in writing counts.
- Fines up to €25,000
- If the risk assessment is missing, the supervisory authority can order it to be drawn up. Failing to comply is a regulatory offence — and where employees are put at risk, it becomes a criminal one.
- Recourse by the accident insurer
- After a workplace accident, the Berufsgenossenschaft can reclaim its costs from the company if the accident was caused by gross negligence. Missing safety instruction is the first thing they ask about.
- Work stopped on site
- Where life or health is directly at risk, the inspector can prohibit the work. What the standstill costs appears in no schedule of fines — as a rule it is the most expensive item of all.

Site walks and defects
Checklists for the site, defects with a photo and a responsible person. Once closed, the finding is immutable.
Document vault
Safety plan, advance notice, certificates, proof of insurance — versioned, with expiry dates.
Client access link
A time-limited, read-only link shows the client where things stand — no names, no signatures, no documents.
Why you can trust us with personnel data
- Hosted in Germany
- Database, files and application run in Frankfurt am Main. No region is ever inherited from a provider default — each one is set explicitly.
- Separation in the database
- Who sees what is decided by the database, not by the interface. Workers see their own records, site management sees their own sites.
- Health data stays out
- For occupational health checks (G25, G41) BauGuard stores only status and expiry date. Findings and diagnoses are not stored at all — blocked at the database level.
Frequently asked questions
Do my site workers need an account?
No. They are set up as a person — name, role, language — and sign on the site manager's device, exactly as on the paper briefing sheet. An account of their own is the exception and can be added at any time.
Which languages are briefings given in?
German, Turkish, Polish, Romanian and English. Content is always shown in the language of the person being briefed, not the operator's. An unreviewed machine translation carries no legal record — the database enforces that, not just the interface.
Does BauGuard replace a health and safety professional?
No, and it is not meant to. BauGuard keeps the records, tracks deadlines and makes gaps visible. The professional judgement stays with your safety specialist and company doctor.
What happens to the data if I cancel?
You get a complete export. Only what may be deleted is deleted: briefings and risk assessments are subject to statutory retention periods and are blocked rather than removed when in doubt.
